In his capacity as Chief Data and Privacy Officer, Jason manages Engine's global privacy initiatives and our data protection compliance program. His duties include maintaining privacy best practices, coordinating internal policy reviews, developing a Privacy by Design approach to product and system development, and negotiating agreements pertaining to data protection and privacy. He also manages external industry trade relations and legislative matters relating to digital media.
Jason is Founder and President of the Federation for Internet Alerts (FIA), of which Engine is a partner. FIA distributes dynamic AMBER Alerts and weather warnings geographically through the internet, leveraging innovative technology to provide last-mile access to alerts during disasters. FIA has been recognized by Adweek’s Media Plan of the Year, Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, the 4As, The Webby Awards, Shorty Social Good Awards, Digiday Awards, OMMA Awards and Creative Media Awards for its work saving lives.
Before joining Engine, Jason served as General Counsel & Chief Privacy Officer of Dotomi, Chief Privacy Officer of Conversant (formerly ValueClick) and a partner in the law firm Bier & Gutstein.
As a Director on the boards of the Network Advertising Initiative, and the Principles & Communications Advisory Committee of the Digital Advertising Alliance, Jason has lead industry self-regulation for interest based advertising. In 2013, he received the Interactive Advertising Bureau’s Service Excellence Award for his work protecting consumer privacy.
