Sprinting To Stand Up to Cancer

31ST JULY 2019

On Thursday 25th July – also known as the hottest day on record in the UK – ENGINE took part in Campaign’s inaugural Sprintathon. What is a ‘Sprintathon’, I hear you ask? It’s a marathon distance split into 422 consecutive sprints, run over 105.5 laps of 400 metres. Each team member tackles 100 metres and the whole race is run as a relay, with the whole group running the final 100 metres to show solidarity against cancer.

Taking place at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the event was a fundraiser for Stand Up To Cancer -  with nearly £100,000 was raised and the equivalent of a marathon completed in under 2 hours. It was the third fastest Sprintathon time ever!

We were delighted to take part in the event; not only is it a cause that is close to our hearts, but it’s also organised by Mark Evans, Marketing Director of DLG and one of our clients. Megan Seaby our team captain said ‘‘Sprinting two laps on the hottest day of the year - not the easiest thing to do. But the team smashed it in under a minute! Great to see so many people supporting such a good cause!' There’s still time to donate – so please join our efforts to support the cause by heading over to https://www.sprintathon.org/
